Itinerary summary

• The tour starts with the pick up from the hotel located in the historic center of the city of Arequipa to go by bus, we will go to the Sillar Route in a tourist bus on a tour of history and living culture.
• Once we arrive to the quarry of Añashuayco in a 45 minutes trip where we will be able to see the stonemasons in the realization of their work in the carving from very early hours, in the place we can appreciate the canyon with cliffs of ignimbrite stone that has a height of 30 meters where our guide will give us information about why the city of Arequipa is called the banking city.
• In addition to all this magnificent place our guide will tell us details of the history of the Sillar and all the carvings that we will find here as we will also see the facade of the Church of the Society of Jesus embodied in a mega carving made by the stonemasons themselves and we will share their daily work activities.
• After that we will visit the Culebrillas ravine where we will be part of a visit to the entire canyon, together in this short tour we will visit the petroglyphs whose origin could be from the Wari culture.
• Finally we will return to the White City of Arequipa very close to the Plaza de Armas after a tour full of history and living culture.

The Sillar Route tour is a journey of history, adventure and living culture. Discover why the city of Arequipa is known as "The white city" in a tour through the district of Cerro Colorado where tourists can see the work of ashlar in an area of 2000 meters whose route allows to know quarries of Añashuayco, Culebrillas and Cortadores where we will see the enormous facades or colonial carvings (farellones) of ignimbrite stone whose carving has a height of 30 meters, a work to pure combo and chisel, where we will be able to see the artisan workshops of interpretation of the carving of the ashlar whose construction material is used in the houses, churches and mansions in the whole region of Arequipa.
