Itinerary summary

DAY 1: CUSCO CITY - PISCACUCHO KM 82 - LLACTAPATA - AYAPATA

  • Pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 04:00 hrs to leave in a tourist bus to Piscacucho at km 82 where the Inca Trail trek begins.
  • Beginning of the 12 km trek where we will visit Patallacta, an Inca archaeological site.

 

DAY 2: AYAPATA - WARMIWAÑUSKA - SAYACMARCA - CACHICOCHA

  • We will start very early in the morning in a challenging hike where we will reach the highest point in Warmiwañuska at 4215 meters above sea level and have a view of the surrounding area.
  • After that we will descend to visit the archaeological sites of Runcuracay and Sayacmarca and then spend the night in Cachicocha under the stars and the Andean sky.
  • In this tour we will be able to hike a total of 22 km.

 

DAY 3: CACHICOCHA - PHUYUPUTUMARCA - WIÑAYHUAYNA

  • Beginning of the hike over cloud forests and view of the snowy Salkantay and then visit Phuyuputumarca known as the cloud city.
  • After that we will visit Wiñayhuayna on roads of the thick jungle and then rest for the next day to be in Machupicchu.

 

DAY 4: WIÑAYHUAYNA - SUN GATE - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO

  • The day starts earlier than every day to have our official entrance through the Sun Gate and then see the sunrise at Machupicchu followed by a guided tour for about 2 hours and if you book the entrance to the mountain Waynapicchu can access it.
  • After the guided we will start the descent in order to take our meals on our own and wait for the train back to Cusco.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

DAY 1: CUSCO CITY - PISCACUCHO KM 82 - LLACTAPATA – AYAPATA

  • This fantastic tour starts with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 04:00 hrs and then depart in a tourist bus to Piscacucho (2600 meters above sea level) at km 82 in a journey of 2 hours and a half where the Inca Trail hike begins.
  • Prior to the start of the tour we will have a delicious breakfast and it is there where we will have the presentation of the whole team that will accompany us on the tour to the Inca Trail such as: cooks, porters, our guide and of course us.
  • Beginning of the relatively easy hike that will prepare us for the following days to come to visit the archaeological site of Llactapata (2840 meters above sea level) an Inca site built on the steep plateau where we will see constructions and terraces or Inca terraces.
  • After that we will have lunch prepared by our expert cooks and in the afternoon we will continue our tour passing communities where we can buy any last minute necessities. Then we will go to our first overnight stop which is located in Ayapata at 3300 meters above sea level, there we can rest our legs and relax together with a hot drink and a snack before dinner and to rest and recover energy for the next day.
  • The total distance is 14 km in an average of 6 to 7 hours of walking for this day.

 

DAY 2: AYAPATA - WARMIWAÑUSKA - SAYACMARCA – CACHICOCHA

  • The day begins with a coca tea, this infusion prepares us in a better way to start the day because it will give us energy and will help us with the hike to the altitude along with a good breakfast prepared by our kitchen team.
  • With 100% energy we will start with the trek very early in a challenging day where we will walk uphill for a period of more than 4 hours to reach the highest point which is in Warmiwañuska or also known as the pass of the dead woman (4215 masl) where we will have a rest and we can feel the energy of this place with the view of the mountains that surround this area, a place used in the Inca time feels the energy of the spirits.
  • After being at an incredible altitude we will start with the descent to have our lunch at our camp and then continue with the ascent to visit Runcuraqay (3760 masl) an Inca site where we will see waterfalls, the perfect place to make a small ceremony to mother earth.
  • We will continue with an average ascent of one hour to reach the archaeological site of Sayacmarca (3625 masl) where we will find residential and ceremonial Inca areas.
  • The hike will continue towards our camp which is located in the sector of Cachicocha where we will spend the night, this place is ideal for star gazing and constellations.
  • The total distance is 16 km in an average of 8 to 9 hours of walking for this day.

 

DAY 3: CACHICOCHA - PHUYUPUTUMARCA – WIÑAYHUAYNA

  • The day begins after a very challenging and difficult day with a relaxing walk through green areas of the jungle and where we can appreciate one of the most important snow-capped mountains of Cusco which is the snowy Salkantay and the entire mountain range of Vilcabamba.
  • Then, we will begin with the ascent to the archaeological site of Phuyuputumarca (3580 masl) in a unique place above the clouds and from here we will have a view of the Urubamba River and then descend to our camp where we will have a delicious lunch prepared by our cooking experts in Wiñayhuayna (2650 masl) and then visit the archaeological site of Wiñayhuayna which means "eternally young" why you will know it in that place.
  • In this place we will have a relaxing time to know well this place considered the most important before our arrival to Machupicchu and to prepare us for the most important day that is coming the next day.
  • The total distance is 9 km in an average of 4 to 5 hours of walking for this day.

 

DAY 4: WIÑAYHUAYNA - SUN GATE - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO

  • All the effort of several days will be reflected in this day, for this we will leave very early at about 3:30 hrs to witness the sunrise of Machupicchu from the main entrance to reach the Sun Gate or Intipunku and be the first to witness this spectacular sunrise.
  • After that we will enter by the main road used by the Incas at 06:30 hrs being the first to have the privilege to enter the wonder of the world Machupicchu.
