Itinerary summary

DAY 1: CUSCO - ABRA MALAGA - ALFAMAYO - SANTA MARIA

  • Pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 07:30 hrs to leave in a tourist bus to get to Abra Malaga.
  • We start the descent on bicycles from Alfamayo to Santa Maria by an asphalt road of 45 kilometers in an experience of pure adrenaline.
  • Once in Santa Maria we will have our first lunch and dinner in a local hostel to rest.

 

DAY 2: SANTA MARIA - QUELLOMAYO - COCALMAYO - SANTA TERESA

  • We will start our trek very early in the morning in the direction of Santa Rosa along the Inca trail and then we will go through paths with lots of vegetation where we will see flora and fauna until we arrive to Quellomayo.
  • In Quellomayo we will have lunch and continue the hike until we arrive to Santa Teresa before we will pass by the hot springs of Cocalmayo to relax the body and arrive to Santa Teresa to spend the night.

 

DAY 3: SANTA TERESA - HIDROELECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES

  • The day begins with a hike from Santa Teresa through roads of many plantations where we will pass by Hidroelectrica where we will see an artificial waterfall.
  • We will continue until we reach Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a hotel in the area and prepare for the next day and plan the ascent to Machupicchu.

 

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO

  • The day awaited by all of us for it will begin with the walk to Machupicchu there we will have a guided for a time of approximately 2 hours and if you book the entrance to the mountain Waynapicchu can access it.
  • After the guided we will start the descent to be able to take our food on our own and wait for the train back to Cusco.

This tour does not require booking months in advance, but it is necessary to make a reservation in order to have the entrance to Machupicchu.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

DAY 1: CUSCO - ABRA MALAGA - ALFAMAYO - SANTA MARIA

  • The 4 days Inca Jungle tour starts with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 07:30 hrs and then we will leave in a tourist bus to Abra Malaga (4350 masl) where we will be able to see the majesty of the snowy Veronica and the surrounding snow-capped mountains in a journey where we will see vegetation of the high Andean zone.
  • After being in Abra Malaga we will descend in an area of cloud forests until we reach Alfamayo (2451 masl), where we will start the descent on bicycles before we will have all the guidelines that will be provided by the tour guide and giving instructions for a good realization of the bike tour and thus begin the descent on bicycles about 45 kilometers on an asphalt track towards Santa Maria (1204 masl).
  • Once located in Santa Maria we will have our first lunch and dinner in a hostel in that town and then at night we will have our first dinner and then rest for the next day's hike.

 

DAY 2: SANTA MARIA - QUELLOMAYO - COCALMAYO - SANTA TERESA

  • This day we will start early with a delicious breakfast to go to the sector of Santa Rosa traveling through part of the Inca Trail until we reach Quellomayo in this journey we can see a lot of flora and fauna. We can also see parrots, hummingbirds, eagles and many plantations of coffee, coca, cocoa, cassava, fruit trees and others.
  • After all the walk through trails of dense vegetation we will have a break and we can have our lunch in an area assigned for us. We will continue with the hike through beautiful and unique landscapes within the Vilcabamba mountain range in order to reach the thermal baths of Cocalmayo (the visit is optional) these hot springs have nutritional functions and also help to reduce the tension of the body, this place is ranked as the best hot springs in Cusco for the transparent color of its waters and its excellent location.
  • After a well-deserved rest in the hot springs we will start with the ascent to the district of Santa Teresa where we can rest and spend the night in a local lodge followed by our dinner.

 

DAY 3: SANTA TERESA - HYDROELECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES

  • The hike will start after breakfast from Santa Teresa with the descent to reach Hidroelectrica through trails of lush vegetation and having the best views of Santa Teresa (1550 meters above sea level) and it is here in this path of much flora and fauna we will see one of the artificial waterfalls of a fall of more than 250 meters high that generates electricity to all of Cusco.
  • In the continuation of the hike we will see the Intihuatana the solar clock of the Incas that worked with the Intihuatana that is in Machupicchu that was used to measure the time and see the solstices under the refraction of light rays, After an explanation by the guide we will walk along the railway line until we arrive to Aguas Calientes (2040 masl) where we will spend the night in a lodge, upon arrival we can go to the hot springs of Aguas Calientes to replenish for the next most important day of the whole trek where we will know Machupicchu (2430 masl) the purpose of our hike.

 

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

  • The day awaited by all of us for it will begin with the maximum ascent hike of 1:30 hrs for it we will leave very early to have the privilege of seeing the sunrise of Machupicchu and after that we will have the guided for a time of approximately 2 hours around the place where you can see the magnificence of this place knowing the most important places of Machupicchu such as the Temple of the Sun. The temple of the 3 Windows, the temple of the Condor, the Intihuatana and other magical places that escode this beautiful place with its beautiful terraces and beautiful finishes throughout the citadel of Machupicchu.
