There are two main companies operating train services to Ollantaytambo: Perurail and Inca Rail. Both companies offer different types of trains with various amenities and prices.
- Peru Rail offers services for tourists in the Expedition and Vistadome class of service and domestic tourists at differentiated prices.
- Inca Rail offers services for tourists in the Voyager, First Class and 360° service classes. It does not have differentiated prices for domestic tourists.
Train Stations
The starting point for the train to Ollantaytambo is the Poroy train station, located about 30 minutes by car from the center of Cusco. Some train options can also depart from the San Pedro train station, located in the center of Cusco.
If you are looking to go to Ollantaytambo station from Cusco you can do it through collective buses that leave from Pavitos street in the city of Cusco or opt for the option of a private cab in both options the travel time is 2 to 2:30 hours.

Travel time by train from Cusco to Ollantaytambo varies depending on the service you choose but averages 1 hour and 35 minutes or more.
Many of the buses or collective cabs that leave from Pavitos street opt for the shortest and cheapest route where the trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. But this route sometimes has landslides that block access to the road, in this case it is recommended to leave hours earlier and prevent delays.
