UROS FLOATING ISLANDS AND TAQUILE ISLAND TOUR

Itinerary summary

• The tour starts with the pick up at 07:00 hrs. from the hotel in the historic center of the city of Puno, we will depart to the pier of the city to start the tour in a boat that will be waiting for us.
• Once we are all ready we will have a 25 minutes trip in the boats to the Uros Islands (3815 masl). In this place we will know more about this ancestral culture where the guide will give us additional information about these islands, together we will have a presentation of the local people living in the area where they will also share their customs and the way of living in these islands that are made of totora reeds and other details to know.
• In this place we will have time to take pictures and have a good time, after this beautiful experience we will go by boat to Taquile Island (4050 meters above sea level) where we will start walking uphill to have a unique landscape of the whole island where we will feel the tranquility and a magnificent view of the entire Lake Titicaca.
• After a hike and a good experience we will have a typical lunch of the island of Taquile in a local family home where they will show us their customs and local traditions.
• Finally after a short stay on the island we will return by boat to the city of Puno and finish the tour at 16:00 hrs.

The floating islands tour in Uros and Taquile Island in the Puno region (3827 masl) is a fantastic day tour where we will spend experiences on a set of artificial surfaces made of totora, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of Lake Titicaca. The inhabitants of the Uros are ancestral people currently concentrated in these islands where their subsistence is based on ancestral culture based on fishing for over 2560 years and then visit the island of Taquile (4050 meters above sea level) of a population of 2250 inhabitants with customs and culture where we will find Inca archaeological remains and where we will have the opportunity to meet the traditional dress of the local people and observe their textile production recognized as one of the best masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity awarded by Unesco.
