Velasco Astete Airport is located in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is one of the airports with the largest number of flights after Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru.
Cusco airport receives flights from different parts of Peru and is part of some international flights arriving directly. It is the main gateway to the city of Cusco, the tourist center and obligatory point of passage to reach Machupicchu.

History
The Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport of Cusco began operations in December 1964, located in the district of Wánchaq and San Sebastián, 3.7 kilometers from the historic center of Cusco.It was named in honor of the Peruvian pilot Alejandro Velasco Astete who was the first Peruvian pilot to cross the Andes in 1925.
The first inaugural flight was from Lima to Cusco. Years later after an air show in Puno he crashed and died. Later in recognition of his pioneering achievements in the history of Peruvian aviation was named in honor of the airport of Cusco.

The Cusco airport flight schedule has a reduced and limited schedule of flights that vary from 06:00 hrs to 22:30 hrs the airport had a statistic of more than 4 million passengers (2019) which makes it the second most used air terminal in Peru.
At present, the airport is still in operation and will be ready for the new Chinchero International Airport of greater capacity and will be able to receive direct international flights.

- If you are several people the use of the Van is ideal for you where you can go up to 6 people, with ample space for your luggage, these units are not easy to find at the airport so it is recommended to request said unit in advance (if you do not have luggage in this type of unit you can travel comfortably up to 8 people).
